The star has given the entirety of his twenty-five thousand pound award cash to the MVT, which functions to preserve the United Kingdom's independent live music spots.

The star was given the cheque on 16 October as his latest record the album was chosen as the outstanding release of the previous year.

Fender has chosen to give the cash to the MVT, in acknowledgment of the essential function grassroots venues played in his early career.

"I personally couldn't be pursuing my current career if it hadn't been for all the shows I performed around the region, and further afield, when I was starting out," stated the artist. "These spaces are legendary, but they are struggling."

From early 2023 onward, more than 150 of these venues have shut down – about 16% of the total UK scene.

In the last year, top acts including Pulp, the group Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Sheeran have all backed the Music Venues Trust in its initiatives to keep the scene afloat, by adding a small levy to their ticket prices, which goes to help local stages.

Sam Fender also took part, collecting over £100k on his live tour to assist thirty-eight local spots across Britain.

The money supported venues that were confronting possible closure due to challenges caused by flooding, fire incidents and personal losses, as well as licensing issues, court cases and sound issues.

Some locations obtained financial assistance in modernizing infrastructure and sound and lighting systems that helped musicians and concertgoers.

"The idea that revenue from performances in big venues supports the local stages, where it all starts for artists like me, is just sensible," Sam Fender has commented.

He is among several artists to give his honor funds to worthy causes.

When they won the prize in the year 1996 for their album the album, vocalist the singer announced that the group would contribute their prize money to the non-profit the charity.

That year, rapper and singer she divided her prize among a few organizations, such as the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.

"I also contributed a £1,000 to Highgate Newtown, to their classes, because I did gymnastics when I was younger and they lacked new equipment," the artist explained to a publication.

Two years ago, Ezra Collective donated their winnings to the local youth club that developed their act, alongside other grassroots music organisations.

Additionally 1994 winners M People donated their prize to a charity for MS after a close contact was found to have the illness.

"Receiving the award was ample," said vocalist Small. "The prize was the cherry on top but we didn't need the cherry, because we had the honor. So our winning touched somebody else's life."

Last week, the MVT revealed it had protected several local spots in south-east England, by transferring them to public stewardship.

One venue in Southampton and the second in that location were purchased under the Own Our Venues initiative, which is supported by Arts Council England and enthusiasts who purchase "shares" in the buildings.
